Child Find

Intent to Apply for Federal Grants

In accordance with United States Code (U.S.C) Annotated, Title 20, Chapter 70, Subchapter Vlll, Part C, Section 7846, and Public Law (P.L.) 114-95, Section 8306, an entity planning to submit a federal grant application must afford a reasonable opportunity for public comment on the application before it is submitted.

Center ISD hereby gives notice to the public that it intends to file the following applications and request awarded amounts for the federal grant funds with the Texas Education Agency for the school year 2024-2025. CISD welcomes comments or questions concerning any of these grants, and requests that any comments or questions be submitted by June 14, 2024.

 

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

Title 1, Part A ($979,910) provides supplemental resources to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families acquire the knowledge and skills in the state content standards and to meet the state student performance standards.

Title Il, Part A ($107,475) increases student achievement through improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in classrooms and highly qualified principals in schools.

Title Ill, Part A ($76,018) develops programs for limited English proficient students to attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment, and meet the state content standards and student achievement standards.

Title IV, Part A ($71,615) improves the academic achievement of all students by providing all students with access to well-rounded education, improving school conditions for students' learning, and improving the use of technology in order to enhance academic outcomes and digital literacy of all students.

Special Education Consolidated Grant

IDEA-B Formula ($547,457) provides supplemental resources to help school districts ensure that eligible students (age 3-5) with disabilities are provided with a free appropriate public education as required by federal statute.

IDEA-B Preschool ($28,943) provides supplemental resources to help school districts ensure that eligible students (age 3-5) with disabilities are provided with a free appropriate public education as required by federal statute.

Perkins V: Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century

Perkins ($30,874) provides secondary and postsecondary schools with funding to support career and technical education programs.  The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, known as Perkins is the main federal funding source for high school and postsecondary CTE programs. Career and technical education (CTE) is an important route that offers students the opportunity to personalize their education pathway based on their unique career interests and skills. According to the U.S. Department of Education, “At the high school level, CTE provides students with opportunities to explore a career theme of interest while learning a set of technical and employability skills that integrate into or complement their academic studies.  High school CTE is meant to connect with and lead to postsecondary programs of study or additional training after high school, which may include more specialized technical instruction. These pathways can culminate in postsecondary degrees or certificates, apprenticeships, or employment.”

Public comments regarding Center ISD applications for the grants are to be submitted before the public comment end date.
